This is a turnkey project involving construction of a power station with associated distribution network.

- Construction of powerhouse building for 7800 KW diesel generating units, accommodation building for operation &maintenance personnel, drainage system, water system, roads, wells etc.

- Supply & installation of 800 Cu.m. Fuel tank including necessary piping and control system.

- Supply & installation of water treatment plant including interconnecting pipes.

- Supply & installation of fire fighting & detection systems.

- Supply & installation of power station telephone system, indoor & outdoor lightings including cabling works.

Construction of 13.8kV/220V distribution network consisting approx. of the following :

- 6,000 steel poles for 13.8kv network, 1,700 steel poles for 220v network, 600 km route length of 13.8kv network, 100 km route length of 220v network, 200 units’ distribution transformers and 900 units’ electric meters.

- Design & engineering were done by Alfanar engineers. Installations / erections were done by Alfanar manpower. Commissioning was supervised by Alfanar engineers.

Installation, testing and commissioning of lighting network of Dammam, Dahran - Alkhobar dual carriage way, section 2 & 3 including 40 meter masts, lighting poles, pad mounted transformers, Earthing and Cabling. Civil work include foundations for the lighting masts

Installation & commissioning of 76 km. 33kV transmission line, L.T. distribution network including transformers and consumer services. Overall engineering and design was performed by Alfanar which includes pole & cross arm strength calculations, voltage drop calculations and sizing of conductors, SAG & tension calculations, determination of poles planting depth, preparation of structures drawing and staking sheets. Wooden poles were used in the project and procured abroad. Commissioning was performed by Alfanar engineers

Installation, testing and commissioning of lighting network of Dammam, Dahran - Alkhobar dual carriage way, section 2 & 3 including 40 meter masts, lighting poles, pad mounted transformers, earthing and cabling. Civil work include foundations for the lighting masts

Installation and commissioning of 3000 km. distribution network including 33 kV line, low—tension distribution network with transformers and consumer services.

Installation and commissioning of 300km. high-tension main and lateral lines and installation of 5000 consumer services.

Supply, installation, commissioning , warranty and maintenance of SCADA system consisting of Dua computers, master stations, control consoles, color VDU’s, printers, mimic wallboards, RTU’s test, RTU and mock S/S. Engineer’s console including multicolor cabling for monitoring and controlling 300,000 km. of H.T. transmission networks s/s for Layla Aflaj &Wadi Dawasir regions.

PE-09B MOBILE RADIO SYSTEM LAYLA AFLAJ

Turnkey contract to supply, install and commission a mobile radio network. This region has three repeater stations linked with UHF stations together with two radio VHF base stations which are connected through PLC to the control center. Repeaters are remotely located and powered by solar system. Since the terrain is hilly in most part of the region, radio coverage was not possible by normal VHF base stations. Hence, hill top repeaters were installed. Beside the base stations, there is a fixed mobile station which gives general alarm condition to the control center from the substation.

PE-09C MOBILE RADIO SYSTEM LAYLA AFLAJ

Supply, installation, commissioning warranty and maintenance of mobile radio system consisting of micro-processor based control system, VHF stations, UHF stations, fixed mobiles and car mobiles for Layla Aflaj, Wadi Dawasir regions and remote regions of Alsawada called Naufaud Al DUHL

This project was earlier awarded to a foreign firm but ran into problems and abandoned the project abruptly. The remaining works were then floated for tender by EC in which Alfanar was the successful bidder and eventually bagged the contract.

The original scope of work awarded to the 1st contractor comprised of the following :

240 KMS. Of 33kV overhead lines on lattice towers, 860 KMS. Of 13.8kV overhead lines on steel poles. 4700 Nos. house connections. 7 Nos. 30 MVA substitutions.

Supply and erection of 33kV sub-transmission line to new water system pumping station to connect al Aqiq & Al Baha waterline to work in systematic operation.

The project included provision for lighting, heating, ventilation and, air-conditioning of the main contract executed by another firm.

This project mainly involve the relocation of a 12.5 MW SK20 Rolls Royce Gas Turbine from old Airport, Jeddah to Air Defense Institute in Jeddah. The following were done by Alfanar.

- Foundations for the gas turbine and fuel storage tanks.

- Construction of powerhouse building, dikes and trenches.

-Dismantling and transport of gas turbine and auxiliaries.

-Overhauling of turbine section, generator and turbine auxiliaries. Overhauling was done at manufacturers works in U.K.

- Re-installation, testing & commissioning of the gas turbine and auxiliaries.

-Supply, installation, testing and commissioning of 5 x 600 m3 fuel storage tanks complete with inter-connecting pipes, fire fighting system for the gas turbine and fuel tanks.

-Supply, installation, testing and commissioning of 13.8kV switchgear, neutral breaker, earthing systems and high masts lighting.

- Supply, installation, testing and commissioning of remote control panel and local control system.

- Design and engineering was performed by Alfanar engineers. Testing and commissioning of the gas turbine and auxiliaries was supervised by the manufacturer. The project was completed on time.

Installation and commissioning of 13.8KV H.T. switchgear, underground H.T. and control cables, termination and jointing, moving H.T. switchgear and installation new bus tie to complete loop system.

installation and commissioning of 30 km. 13.8 KV distribution line including 500 KVA S/S and distribution transformers.

This project mainly involved the dismantling transportation and re-installation of 2 x 20 MW BBC type 9 gas turbines complete with auxiliary systems. The gas turbines were taken out from SCECO Central’s Alkharj P/P

This was a turnkey project involving construction of 8.50 km 4 circuit configuration 110 KV transmission line. The new line was looped on existing double-circuit line.

This was a turnkey project including the relocation of portion of existing 110 KV oil-filled underground cables. The existing line was cut and joined at specific points.

This was a turnkey project involving construction of 7 km. double circuit configuration 110 KV transmission line. The new line portion was traversed through the mountain area and reconnected to the original line at certain points

installation and commissioning of 5 package unit substation 2x2500 KVA step-up transformers, 1 x 500 KVA step-up transformers, SF6 switchgear, 2 km. 13.8 XLPE cable, multi core cabling and construction of main substation building. Civil work includes foundation for the transformers and cable trench for 13.8kV cables.

Installation and commissioning of 31 Nos. level transmitter relay cabinet and cables, including civil works for manholes

This was a turnkey project involving installation of new 132 KV XLPE cables, pilot cables and cable accessories.

Operation & maintenance staff and engineers to run and maintain the Alfanar installed Power Plant. Mainly responsible for the following :-

- Maintenance of gas turbine 2 x 20MW.

- Maintenance of Diesel Generator 1 x 2.5MW.

-Maintenance of fuel system (unloading, forwarding, fuel treatment plant).

- Fire fighting system.

- Water treatment plant

- Water supply system

- Electrical & central system for the above installation

This was a turnkey project for a new 132/13.8 KV indoor substation. The following are scope of work:

- Complete engineering and design of the whole substation including interface engineering.

- Civil works which includes construction of 2-story substation building plus basement with boundary walls, roads, lighting, foundations etc. The building is equipped with HVAC and fire fighting systems using FM 200 Gas.

Supply installation, testing and commissioning of the following equipment :-

- 7 bays 132 KV gas insulated switchgear (GIS), 24 bays 13.8 KV double busbar switchgear complete with bus duct., 1 lot neutral earthing resistor and 1 lot protection and control system., Complete substation earthing system and auxiliary system which includes 125 V DC system, auxiliary transformers, AC/DC panel boards.

- Complete closed-loop commissioning of the substation.

Supply and installation of two (2) towers, gantry, conductors, insulators and re-installation of surge arresters, CTs, VTs, line traps and associated equipment. Civil works include foundation for the towers and gantry.

- This is a turnkey project for a new 115 /13.8KV indoor substation. The following are scope of work

- Complete engineering and design of the whole substation including interface engineering.

-Civil works which includes construction of substation building with perimeter fence, roads, lighting, foundations etc. The building is equipped with HVAC & fire-fighting systems using alarm and detection.

- 2 x 40 MVA power transformers.

Design review , installation and commissioning of :

- Application processors. Communication processors.

- Local Area Network - Fiber Optic FDDI with DAS.

- Workstations and replacement of 18 nos. RTU’s.

- Modification of existing 17 Nos. substations for SCADA up gradation.

- EMS software engineering including database loading, graphic generation, alarm configuration, energy calculations, historical storage, report generation and information storage and retrieval

CONSTRUCTION & COMMISSIONING OF :

- 8 bays 380 kV outdoor switchgear comprising of 8 Nos. 3 pole SF6 circuit breakers complete with disconnections, current transformer, voltage transformer, surge arresters, line traps etc.

- 25 bays 110kV outdoor switchgear comprising of 25 Nos. 3 pole SF6 circuit breakers complete with disconnections, current transformers, voltage transformers, surge arresters, line traps etc..

- Complete busbar system for 380/110kV switchgear.

- 40 bays 13.8kV double bus bar switchgear.

-Control & protection system comprising of 49 Nos. 380/110/13.8 kV relay panels, 380/110kV fault recording system, Mosaic control panel board with control metering and alarm facilities plus other control equipment.

THIS IS VERY SPECIAL PROJECT WHICH  alfanar  IS  PROUD TO EXECUTE. IT IS  THE  FIRST ONE OF IT’S KIND AS 380KV O/D S/S IN THE KINGDOM  AND IN THE  GULF.  IT IS  ALSO HIGHLY ADVANCED WITH THE LATEST TECHNOLOGY IN THE WORLD

The project involves approximately 35km. of 110kV single circuit and 5.5km. of double circuit, including geo-technical investigation, manholes, hand holes, foundations for link boxes and joints, supply of manpower etc.

All circuit s will emanate from Wadi Jaleel Substation.

-138 km. 110kV cable, 1 Core x 630 mm2 Cu / XLPE.

- 192 Nos. Straight through joints.

- 36 Nos. SF6 Termination.

- 40 km. 7/54 Pilot cable.

- 9.50 km. 12F Fibre optic cable.

- Testing and commissioning for the above

- Design, engineering, installation and commissioning of :

Local Area Network - Fiber Optic FDDI with DAS.

Workstations and replacement of RTU’s (55 Nos.)

- EMS software engineering including database loading, graphic generation, alarm configuration, energy calculations, historical storage, report generation and information storage and retrieval.

- Design, engineering, installation, testing, sagging & commissioning of Optical Ground Wire (OPGW) on 33 & 132kV transmission line of 74km length installed jointing in joint box and splicing.

- Design, engineering, installation of Fiber Optical system of Nokia in Hail area at 8 nos. different substation.

This was the turnkey project consist of the following : Design review , supply, installation & commissioning of :

- SCADA, Fibre optic & telecommunication (SDH) from Nokia, System-communicating with two master stations.

- The control system comprises of three nos. dual ported RTU supporting dual communication protocols at three substations.

- Modification of RCC hardware at respective control centres.

- Design, supply & commissioning of two nos., Alcatel 4400 PAX interface with existing network.

- Design, review, supply, installation and replacing of existing mimic board with BARCO type mimic projector and commissioned.

- Supply, design as per requirement of DC system and 50x2A battery charger with 300A battery bank.

Operation & maintenance staff and engineers to run and maintain the Alfanar installed Power Plant. Mainly responsible for the following :-
